On Wednesday, February 28, ATM Group CEO, Mr. Arrigo Giana, took part to the MENA Transport Congress & Exhibition, organised by UITP, the International Association of Public Transport, in Dubai.
The MENA Transport Congress & Exhibition is the leading event for sustainable urban mobility in the MENA Region, bringing together operators, industry experts, policymakers and leaders from all over the world.
Mr. Giana delivered a speech at the plenary session on the opening day of the event titled “Greener Transport for Healthier Cities”. The session was moderated by UITP Senior Director Lindsey Mancini, and featured distinguished speakers such as Ahmed Bahrozyan, Chief Executive Officer, Roads & Transport Authority, H. E. Abdulla Al Marzouqi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Integrated Transport Centre, Abdeljabbar Ben Salem, Senior VP of the MENA and Central Asia Business Unit, RATP Dev and Dan Pettersson, Senior VP Business Unit International, Volvo Bus Corporation.
During the discussion Mr. Giana presented an overview of ATM’s green transition flagship project, providing for the complete changeover of the bus fleet into electric within 2030, and illustrated his perspective on the future of green mobility.
"We need to improve the attractiveness and modal share of Public transport that is the most effective means to move around in our cities and has significant benefits for local communities socially, economically, and environmentally. For this purpose, the passenger experience must be improved with the total integration of ticketing and all transport modes".
