The new Tramlink was presented on February 19th at one of ATM tram depots at the presence of Arrigo Giana, CEO of ATM Group, and Iñigo Parra, CEO and Executive President of Stadler Valencia.
The first bidirectional tram running on Milan’s network, Tramlink is designed to further modernise the city's public transport system, introducing a host of cutting-edge technological features, offering advanced safety systems, enhanced accessibility and quiet riding to improve the travel experience.
With a total investment of over €190 million, following a public tender ATM has entrusted Stadler Valencia with the renewal of Milan's tram fleet with 74 new vehicles for increasingly sustainable and efficient urban mobility.
The new trams - 25-meter vehicles in Milan’ s iconic yellow – have three carriages, 66 seats, a low-floor design for accessibility, real-time video surveillance with ten cameras, and infotainment monitors for route and mobility updates.
The first vehicle presented, no. 7701, will serve on two urban lines starting from February 20th.
The new Tramlink will complement the iconic Carrelli trams, which, with 125 vehicles, will continue to be part of the city transport system. Thanks to the new vehicles, ATM will increase tram accessibility from 48% to 70% in two years, aligning with broader sustainability goals.
ATM Group manages in Milan one of the most important and complex tram networks worldwide and has been awarded the operations of the new light rail in Copenhagen, which will enter service in 2025.
